Behind Every Post

If you walk into a gym in today’s world, you may think you have been transported to the backstage of a fashion show. With mirrors lining every wall and color coordinated outfits as far as the eye can see, todays gym culture is definitely different from the dark dungeon like gyms of old.

Social media is now deeply ingrained within today’s gym culture. It once took years of consistent networking, winning bodybuilding shows, and being certified as an expert in order to be published and seen by millions. Now even the most novice gym goer can make a post and be seen by hundreds of thousands if not millions.

The dangers of social media have been well documented but rarely do we see the negative impacts it has on the smiling faces, chiseled bodies, and snatched waist of the people posting their gains. This photo project aims to give a look behind the scenes at the dysmorphia struggles many people go through as they struggle to get the right angle for the perfect post.
